Advantages and Disadvantages of BV Wire
2025-08-18 01:39:23

Advantages of BV Wire

  1. Good insulation performance: The insulation layer of BV wire is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which has excellent electrical insulation. It can effectively prevent electric leakage, ensure electrical safety, and is suitable for various low-voltage power supply environments (450/750V and below) such as households and industries.

  2. Stable current-carrying capacity: As a single-strand hard Copper Wire, its conductor is a solid Copper Core, with excellent and stable conductivity. Under the same cross-sectional area, it has a good current-carrying capacity, which can meet the power transmission needs of most conventional electrical appliances.

  3. Simple structure and low cost: Compared with multi-strand Flexible Wires (such as BVR wires), BV wire has a simpler production process, lower material cost, and relatively affordable price, making it suitable for large-scale fixed wiring scenarios.

  4. Convenient installation and strong stability: The single-strand hard wire has high hardness, so it is not easy to scatter when threading and fixing. The joint connection is firm, and it has better stability under the influence of external forces (such as slight pulling) during long-term use, which is suitable for concealed fixed wiring in walls and pipes.

  5. Wide range of applications: The basic model of BV wire can meet the power supply needs of household lighting, sockets, and general electrical appliances; derivative models such as ZR-BV (flame-retardant) and NH-BV (fire-resistant) can also adapt to special scenarios with fire prevention and flame-retardant requirements, such as public buildings and hospitals.

Disadvantages of BV Wire

  1. Poor Flexibility and difficulty in bending: Since it is a single-strand hard copper wire, the flexibility of BV wire is far inferior to that of multi-strand flexible wires. In wiring environments that require frequent bending and turning (such as Internal Wiring of electrical appliances and threading in narrow spaces), the operation is more difficult. Excessive bending may also cause the insulation layer to crack.

  2. Weak resistance to mechanical damage: The copper core of the hard wire is relatively hard. If it is subjected to severe bending, extrusion, or vibration, it is prone to conductor breakage or insulation layer damage, affecting service life and safety.

  3. Not suitable for wiring of mobile devices: For electrical appliances that need to be moved frequently (such as vacuum cleaners and temporary sockets), the rigidity of BV wire will cause inconvenience in use, and repeated bending is easy to damage. Multi-strand flexible wires are more suitable for such scenarios.

  4. Higher requirements for joint handling: Although the single-strand wire joint connection is firm, when connecting to electrical terminals, sockets, etc., if the handling is improper (such as loose crimping), it may cause heat due to insufficient contact area, which has potential safety hazards and requires more standardized operations.
